Inner Game – Do You Have It Handled?
In my previous article titled “Attraction vs Being Attractive” I mentioned a subject called “Inner Game” - well now I’m going to dedicate a whole article to it. Yup, it’s that important so start paying attention now.
Inner game is your core; it’s what people don’t see but rather perceive / feel off you - it’s that other 93% of communication – yes, the unspoken. Let me start by saying that communication is only 7% verbal and 93% non-verbal. The non-verbal component is made up of your body language, micro expressions and status (how you carry yourself).
Have you ever been attracted to someone physically but the second they opened their mouth it all went away and you really didn’t know why but you knew that you were no longer attracted? Most of us have been in that boat at least once, and some more then others. What is going on when this happens is our instincts are kicking in and saying “this person really isn’t as good as they look/ or what they say they are” - this comes from our subconscious picking up on signals of weakness that the other person is emitting via micro expressions and body language. The body and face never lie – so if you are not a confident person, or have a healthy level of self esteem that will reflect in the way you carry yourself.
The following are key components to a solid inner game:
1. Well defined personal boundary
2. Decision making ability and willingness to make decisions
3. Preferences
4. Identity
5. Regulation of emotional energy
When you have all those components down you then becomes a real person living your life for you which reflects confidence and high self esteem which in it’s own right makes you naturally attractive, in many cases even trumping looks. It is far rarer to find someone who has it together on the inside then someone who just happens to be attractive on the outside.
If you think you can use some inner game work then you need to sit down and start with answering the questions: “who am I” and “what am I about”. It all starts from knowing yourself and being comfortable with who you are and in your own skin – because if you are not….trust me…people will sense it and know it.
