Deprivation Diet: Down the Drain!
Hello to Happiness
Hola Fitness Friends and Fans:
Many out there find dieting a battleground; a war between the self and food. Well, it doesn’t have to be this way! Instead of molding a diet that is deficient in craved foods, create a diet that is sufficient in your favorite foods without the guilt. If you think it seems easier said than done, try it out for yourself and before you know it, you will find yourself diet free!
In your mind envision what it is about the foods you long for. Is it saltiness, spiciness, sweetness or fat? Then figure out if the urges are for eating out or for things you don’t make at home. If you are prone to eat out, you may be prone to indulge in portion, fat and sodium. It is pretty likely that you would never make and eat the same amount if you had made it yourself. Time in the kitchen is said to have made a vast difference in diet, weight and happiness, because not only are you preparing the dish, you are shopping for the ingredients, portioning unknowingly and cleaning up the mess.
If you feel like you cannot create the dishes you love to eat when ordering out, think again! Cooking is one of the greatest joys in life and even more joyous to be shared with another. Sure, there are very difficult dishes to prepare, but chances are you aren’t looking to create an edible delicacy each and every night. Great dishes can be easy, inexpensive and quick. Often leaving leftovers, you will have more food for your efforts and will see how inexpensive cooking can be.
So start brainstorming! This is the fun part. Browse the net, grab a cookbook, ask around and begin the journey. Going to the farmer’s market is fun and you will get local, fresh food at a decent price. You don’t need to keep a fancy food diary or count out all the calz, because that’s only a step backward. This is not to say ‘go all out’ and toss your instincts to the wind. Keep consciousness afloat when it comes to your choices, but don’t get your feathers ruffled if you do decide to indulge once in awhile. In this world, there are too many wonderful foods that nobody should be deprived of.
If you need help setting the balance in your eating, there are many great resources for your support. Blogs, (see article below) books, friends, trainers and family can aid you in choosing which foods to focus on, not which ones to hide from. It is you though who must be on board full-force, before you can embark and it is you who will ultimately decide what works and what doesn’t when it comes to your specific life. This is not an AA meeting people, but yes sometimes food can be an addiction that affects physically and psychologically, even affecting relationships of the individual and those surrounding. Give yourself the benefit of the doubt and try a diet free life. Think of it as a new way of living, an evolution of sorts; one that all should veer towards with faith.
